CHURCH HISTORY

ACTS 20:28, “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood."

On July 13, 2002, 9 core members, Roseabell Smith, Joe & Mertie Colyer, Gail Hawkins, Sylvia Johnson, Bill Hill, Barbara Swanson, and Fred & Judy Woodson, began weekly bible studies, under the leadership of Dr. Roy Liburd, Regional Church planting director.

In August 2002, the core group asked Pastor LaVaughn McNary to teach the bible study group while Dr. Liburd went on vacation.

After a month of study, the core group asked him to serve as their pastor. After talking it over with God and family, he accepted the pastoral call.

In the first official meeting in September 2002, the core group voted to name the church, Antioch Fellowship Baptist Church.

Antioch's "First Official Worship Service and Church Commissioning/Installation” service was held November 3, 2002. Antioch was Incorporated, May 2003 and formerly Constituted on September 30, 2003.

On August 29, 2003, the Lord blessed Antioch with 8 acres of land in Spring Hill, Florida.

After going from house to house for worship services, Antioch was able to rent space at Regency Oaks clubhouse for Sunday school and worship services. As the church grew, Wednesday night bible study and prayer was added to its services. While at Regency Oaks, the Lord blessed us with steady growth, spiritually and numerically. God sent Deacons, Pastors, teachers, ushers, choir members, administrators, prayer warriors and the list goes on and on.

In the year of 2007, three and a half years after purchasing the church property, the Lord blessed us with the funds to pay off the land and shred the land mortgage at the 5th Church Anniversary celebration.

Church ministries began to grow as more members exercised their spiritual gifts. The Lord began to touch the heart of our leaders and led us to move from Regency Oaks clubhouse to our new location at 3031 Landover Boulevard, in December 2012.

The Landover location provided us with the space needed and the ability to more effectively reach the souls in Spring Hill. Our ministries are growing and we are intentional in our efforts to reach those who do not know our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

In the fall of 2018, we completed Phase One of our long range master building plan. In this phase, a multi-purpose building was constructed that houses classrooms, a nursery, space for our preschoolers, a youth room, pastoral and ministry offices, a prep kitchen and a place for praise and worship.

A ribbon cutting/dedication ceremony at our new location occurred on November 3, 2018 and our first official Sunday worship service occurred on November 4, 2018.

Praise God!
